2023 Halloween Pet Costume Contest - Official Rules
The UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory is holding a virtual Halloween pet costume contest on Facebook! If your pet will be trick-or-treating with you this weekend, we would love to see their costume! The costume with the most likes will get to choose between a $100 off coupon to be applied towards any genetic test offered by the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory OR a gift basket that includes a cooler, a hat, a t-shirt, and a travel mug. Read below for instructions on how to participate!
Contest Timing:

Entry period: begins Friday, October 27th at 5pm PST and ends on Wednesday, November 1st at 5pm PST.

Voting period: begins Thursday, November 2nd at 8am PST and ends on Monday, November 6th at 12pm PST.

Winner announcement: Tuesday, November 7th on the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory Facebook page and Instagram account.
How to Enter:
Post a photo of your pet in costume in the comments section of the Halloween Pet Contest Facebook post using a Facebook account registered in your name. Only one (1) entry allowed per person. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter. Internet access and a Facebook account are required to enter.
Voting:
Once the entry period is over, valid entries will be posted in a designated photo album on the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory Facebook page for public voting. Each like on a photo will be computed as one (1) vote. Contestants may tag friends and/or share the album or just their photo to gather votes.
Winner Selection:
The pet costume photo with the most likes at the end of the voting period will be considered the winner of either a $100 off coupon to be applied towards any genetic test offered by the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory OR a gift basket that includes a cooler, a hat, a t-shirt, and a travel mug. The winning pet costume will be announced on the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory Facebook page and Instagram account. The winner will be notified by Facebook private message and will have seven (7) days to claim their prize. In the event that a winner doesn’t respond within seven (7) days, the contest administrator will choose the next highest voted entry to win.
Eligibility:
This contest is open to all UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory Facebook page followers. Employees of the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory and any and all other companies associated with the sweepstakes (collectively, the “Promotion Entities”), and each of their immediate family members and/or people living in the same household, are not eligible to participate. Eligibility rules are subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
ATTENTION:
Your pet's safety and wellbeing should always come first! Please take this into consideration when choosing a costume. when choosing a costume. Costumes deemed unsafe or harmful to the animal will be disqualified.
All entries submitted become the property of UC Davis, and by participating you agree that UC Davis may use your submitted photo/video and post content for marketing and advertising purposes. Odds of winning depend on number of entrants. Inquiries about the number of entrants and odds may be directed to Morgan Melendez (mamelendez@ucdavis.edu). This information will remain available for one year after the contest closes.
UC Davis may cancel this contest in the event of technical problems or electronic attacks affecting the administration of the offer. Any sweepstakes entrant found to intentionally interfere with the operation of the offer will be disqualified. UC Davis retains the right to hide or delete entries on the UC Davis Facebook page, if found in violation of UC Davis policies, or for any other reason at UC Davis’ sole discretion. UC Davis is not responsible for lost, damaged, delayed or misdirected prizes. UC Davis is not responsible for lost or misdirected contest entries. Prize(s) may not be redeemed for cash.
